British number one Johanna Konta is out of Wimbledon after a straight-sets defeat to Czech Republic’s Barbora Strycova.

Strycova has reached her first Grand Slam semi-final of her career at the age of 33 and dominated against an out-of-sorts Konta.

Konta started perfectly and broke early on the way to a 4-1 lead but Strycova broke back to force a tie-break. Konta led the tie-break 5-4 but three successive points secured the set for Strycova.

It was complete capitulation for Konta in the second set. Strycova broke for a 2-0 lead and held serve throughout. On the other side of the court, a wayward smash and a series of unforced errors summed up the afternoon for Konta.

Another break came to give Strycova a 5-1 lead before the world number 54 served out the match.

She will play Serena Williams on Thursday, who beat Alison Riske earlier in the afternoon.
