Hull FC thrash Leeds Rhinos to progress to Challenge Cup final

Hull FC put on a dominant display of rugby to defeat Leeds Rhinos 43-24 at the Keepmoat Stadium.

They will now play either Wigan Warriors or Salford Red Devils in the Challenge Cup final at Wembley next month.

Marc Sneyd was perfect with the boot all afternoon, converting all seven Hull tries and scoring a drop goal to lead his team to victory.

Hull thought they had taken the lead in the seventh minute when Mark Minichiello crossed the line but that was ruled out by the television official for obstruction.

Ryan Hall put Leeds ahead after 19 minutes when he rose to collect Joel Moon’s kick. Kallum Watkins added the extras with the conversion.

That lead only lasted four minutes though when Albert Kelly dummied past the Leeds defence to level the score.

Hall was at it again though, this time retrieving a Watkins kick to give Leeds a 12-6 lead.

Hull asserted their dominance soon after and took an 18-12 lead into the break after tries from Carlos Tuimavave and Chris Green.

First, Sneyd teed up Tuimavave perfectly to breach the defence before Kelly knocked a kick down to Green to score.

Tuimavave added his second try of the match shortly after the restart. Fetuli Talanoa tapped a kick down to Tuimavave to cross tdown the left.

Sneyd added an extra point with a drop goal nine minutes later.

Watkins pulled a try back on the hour mark when an excellent dummy deceived the Hull defence.

It was back to script for Hull five minutes later though when Liam Watts sprinted through a gap to touch down, and Jamie Shaul went the full length of the field to score another.

Scott Taylor added the final Hull try of the match before Ashton Golding scored a consolation try in the final minute.
