Heather Watson and Tatjana Maria have been knocked out of the French Open doubles by sixth seeds Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova.

The Czech pair won 6-1 2-6 7-5 to set up a tie against Kiki Bertens and Johanna Larsson in the third round.

Maria and Watson were broken immediately in the opener, and lost two further service games as Krejcikova and Siniakova eased towards the lead.

The teams shared three breaks at the start of the second set, and a crucial break to love to make it 5-2 separated them.

It was Krejcikova and Siniakova who triumphed in the decider though, breaking three times to win 7-5.

Watson reached the second round of the singles tournament before losing to Elise Mertens.
