Guido Pella’s wonderful Wimbledon run has continued with a five-set win over Milos Raonic.

The Argentine had previously never got past the second round of a Grand Slam but will play in Wednesday’s quarter-final after a 3-6 4-6 6-3 7-6 8-6 win.

Raonic looked in control after the opening two sets and broke to love on his way to the opener.

The Canadian failed to convert eight break points in the second set but a break at 3-4 was enough to double his lead.

Pella turned the tables at the start of the third set though and broke for 3-1 before clawing one set back.

The Argentine needed a tie-break to level and raced into a 6-2 lead before taking the tie-break 7-3.

It went right to the wire in the deciding set. Raonic had to save a match point at 5-4 and saved two more match points at 6-5.

Pella did finally break to win the match on Raonic’s next service game to set up a match against Roberto Bautista Agut.
