French Open: Kyle Edmund through but Cameron Norrie misses out on Day Five

Kyle Edmund is through to the third round of the French Open after a 6-0 1-6 6-2 6-3 win over Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics.

The 16th seed looked set to thrash his opponent after breezing through the opener, but the tables turned as Edmund won just one of his service games in the second set.

Edmund refound his form though, breaking twice on the way to the third set before holding serve throughout the fourth on his way to victory.

There was no such luck for fellow Brit Cameron Norrie, who resumed his match against Lucas Pouille one set down after bad light stopped play last night.

Both players broke once in the fourth set, but Pouille prevailed in the tie-break, winning four points on the bounce from 3-3 to claim victory.

Elsewhere, Rafael Nadal eased past Guido Pella 6-2 6-1 6-1 and Dominic Thiem defeated Greek teenager Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-2 2-6 6-4 6-4.

There were also wins for Marin Cilic, who beat Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz 6-2 6-2 6-7 7-5, and Juan-Martin Del Potro, who despatched Julien Benneteau 6-4 6-3 6-2.
