Craig Overton struck 10 runs in the final three balls to give Somerset victory over Hampshire with a four on the final ball.

South Group winners Hampshire had earlier set a target of 357 and that looked to have been enough, but Overton came in late in the innings and hit a four, a two and a four in the final over to snatch the win.

Peter Trego’s knock of 100 had given Somerset a chance, with Johann Myburgh adding 71 and James Hildreth scoring 56.

When Overton came in, Somerset still needed 26 from 2.4 overs but 17 from just 10 balls saw the all-rounder lead his team to victory.

Earlier in the day, captain James Vince topscored for Hampshire with 109. Tom Alsop’s 95 and Liam Dawson’s 76 led Middlesex to a total of 356.

Despite the loss, Hampshire have qualified automatically for the semi-final by topping the group while Somerset miss out by a single point due to Essex’s win against Kent.
