FA Cup: West Ham stumble through, Leicester beat Fleetwood

West Ham United needed extra time to defeat Shrewsbury Town in an FA Cup third round replay.

Reece Burke scored his first goal for West Ham in the 112th minute after the League One side had matched them throughout the opening 90 minutes.

The best chance of the match until then fell to Stefan Payne, who forced a superb save from former Shrewsbury goalkeeper Joe Hart.

Mark Noble and Manuel Lanzini both had chances cleared off the line in the first half of extra time before Burke finally broke the deadlock.

Kelechi Iheanacho scored twice in Leicester City’s 2-0 win over Fleetwood Town.

The 21-year-old became the first player in English football to be awarded a goal by the video assistant referee. After his second strike was initially ruled out for offside, referee Jonathan Moss spoke to video assistant Mike Jones and the decision was reversed.

Iheanacho had earlier opened the scoring when he found the net from Islam Slimani’s pass.

Goals from Marco Matias and Atdhe Nuhiu led Sheffield Wednesday to victory over Carlisle United, and Junior Hoilett scored twice in Cardiff City’s 4-1 victory over Mansfield Town.

Jon Bodvarsson scored a hat-trick to send Reading through against Stevenage.
