England’s Women’s Ashes chances went from bad to worse after a rain-delayed second day of the only Test.

Ellyse Perry, who was unbeaten on 84 overnight, made 116 before being caught off Laura Marsh as Australia moved to 341-5 before lunch.

Rachael Haynes added 87 before falling lbw to Marsh.

“We can take a lot of pride in how we’ve bowled. Perry has played very well, not a lot of luck has gone our way throughout the series but luckily the full toss I bowled went straight to Heather,” Marsh told BBC Sport.

“We still believe we can turn this around. The game can change quickly – if we can come out and put them under pressure, you never say never.”

England need to win the Test to keep their chances of winning the Ashes alive and now have just two days while still needing to bat in the first innings.
