Dundee have beaten Hamilton Academical to move six points clear of the relegation play-off place in the Scottish Premiership.

With two games remaining and Dundee’s goal difference nine better than 11th-placed Partick Thistle, their survival will be secure with one more point or if Partick fail to win their remaining two games.

Kevin Holt gave Dundee the lead in the 18th minute when he volleyed Craig Wighton’s cross into the top right corner.

Hamilton, who sit just three points above Partick, hit the post in the second half from a Rakish Bingham free kick.

In the closing stages, Dougie Imrie hit a penalty straight down the middle which was easily saved.
