Britain’s Dan Evans has been beaten by Australian Alex De Minaur in the Nature Valley Open in Nottingham.

Evans was competing in his first final since coming back from a year-long ban for taking cocaine in April but lost 6-7 (4-7) 5-7 in two hours and one minute.

The former British number two went a break up in the opener only for De Minaur to hit back before taking the tie-break.

Evans came from behind twice in the second set to level at 5-5 but was broken to love in the next game before De Minaur served for the match.

The 28-year-old will rise from his ranking of 530th after reaching the final and has been given a wildcard entry to the Fever-Tree Championships at Queen’s next week.
