Dan Evans has exited the Paris Masters after losing to Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik.

The British number two dominated the first set but eventually slipped to a 2-6 7-5 7-5 defeat.

Bublik started poorly and conceded the first three games as Evans looked in control to take the lead.

The world number 36 improved massively though and matched his opponent, ranked 12 places higher, for the rest of the match.

Both players held serve until 5-5 in the second set before Bublik finally broke to take the set.

The decider was similar too. When Bublik broke for 5-4, Evans immediately hit back to level.

But it was the 24-year-old who eventually took the win by taking the final two games.

Andy Murray will take to the court later in the evening. His original opponent, Jenson Brooksby, has withdrawn due to injury. so the former British number one will now face Germany’s Dominik Koepfer.
