Championship: Cardiff go top, Ipswich unbeaten run ends

Cardiff City remain the only team in the Championship with a 100% record after a 2-1 win over Queens Park Rangers,

Matt Smith scored from a Luke Freeman cross before goals from Junior Hoilett and Sol Bamba completed the victory.

Millwall shocked Norwich City 4-0. Lee Gregory, George Savile and Jed Wallace gave the Lions a three-goal half-time lead before Shaun Hutchison completed the scoring in the 73rd minute.

Barnsley also pulled off a shock win, beating Sunderland 3-0. Ike Ugbo opened the scoring in the 31st minute before Harvey Barnes doubled Barnsley’s lead. George Moncur added a third in the 67th minute.

Ipswich Town’s unbeaten run came to an end after an 0-2 loss to Fulham. Neeskens Kabano and Rui Fonte scored either side of half time.

Sheffield United beat Derby County 3-1 after an early Billy Sharp goal and a Johnny Russell own goal. Craig Bryson headed in for Derby in stoppage time but Sharp netted his second deep into stoppage time.

Two late goals secured the win for Reading against Birmingham City. Jon Bodvarsson opened the scoring on the hour and George Evans’ 85th-minute goal sealed the victory.

Gary Hooper opened the scoring as Sheffield Wednesday drew 1-1 against Burton Albion. Joe Mason levelled for the Brewers in the 65th minute.

Elsewhere, Brentford’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers finished goalless and Middlesbrough also drew 0-0 against Preston North End.

In Friday evening’s matches, Jarrod Bowen scored twice as Hull City beat Bolton Wanderers 4-0 and a long-range Josh Onomah goal saved a point for Aston Villa after Jamie Paterson had put Bristol City ahead.

Nottingham Forest meet Leeds United in the day’s evening kickoff.
