Championship: Cardiff City slip up, Leeds United thrash Burton Albion

Cardiff City remain unbeaten in the Championship this season but needed a late equaliser to rescue a point against Fulham.

Danny Ward’s 83rd-minute header levelled the score after Ryan Sessegnon had put Fulham ahead and Cardiff saw their five-match winning run end.

Leeds United moved up to second in the table after a convincing 5-0 thrashing of Burton Albion.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga scored twice on his debut with Kalvin Phillips, Pablo Hernandez and Kemar Roofe also scoring to condemn the Brewers to the relegation zone.

Ipswich Town’s 2-1 defeat at Queens Park Rangers saw them slip to fourth, behind Leeds and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Jamie Mackie and Luke Freeman gave QPR a two-goal lead before Bersant Celina pulled back a goal late on.

Diogo Jota’s 10th-minute goal gave Wolves a 1-0 win against Millwall and Clayton Donaldson scored twice on his debut to lead Sheffield United into the play-off places after they beat Sunderland 2-1.

Middlesbrough are the final team to make up the play-off places after the weekend’s action.

Britt Assombalonga scored twice and Marvin Johnson netted late on as they beat bottom club Bolton Wanderers 3-0 to creep into sixth place on goal difference.

Brentford remain in the relegation zone, along with Burton and Bolton, but earned their third point of the season by holding Aston Villa to a 0-0 draw.

Elsewhere, Sheffield Wednesday moved up to ninth after beating Nottingham Forest 3-1.

Gary Hooper opened the scoring before Ben Osborn levelled, but second-half goals from Steven Fletcher and Kieran Lee secured the points for Wednesday.

Aden Flint scored late to give Bristol City a 1-0 win at Reading and Nelson Oliveira scored the only goal of the game as Norwich City defeated Birmingham City.

Preston North End and Barnsley played out a 1-1 draw.

On Friday evening, Derby County thrashed Hull City 5-0 after two goals each from Matej Vydra and Bradley Johnson and a Curtis Davies goal.
