Castleford Tigers extend Super League lead after beating Wakefield Wildcats

Castleford Tigers have gone 12 points clear at the top of the Super League after beating Wakefield Wildcats 45-20.

Jake Webster crossed four times to lead Cas to their 21st win of the season.

Liam Finn gave Wakefield a two-point lead in the second minute with a drop goal before Zak Hardaker’s converted try put Castleford ahead.

Ben Jones-Bishop then crossed to level the score at 6-6 in the 14th minute.

Tries from Mike McMeeken and Webster gave Castleford a 12-point lead but Mason Caton-Brown’s try made it 18-10 going into the break.

Danny Kirmond’s converted try closed the lead to just two points in the 48th minute but Cas took control after that.

Greg Eden added another try before Webster scored three in quick succession to add to his first-half try.

Max Jowitt added a consolation for Wakefield late on before Hardaker added seventh trie for Cas.
