All Black Kieran Read “hollow” after Lions series
New Zealand captain Kieran Read has said he feels “hollow” after the deciding Test against the Britsih and Irish Lions finished 15-15.
The draw means the two sides share the series 1-1. Lions centre Owen Farrell’s penalty kick levelled the score with three minutes remaining.
“I feel pretty hollow. To walk away with a draw doesn’t mean much. In the future, I will look back at this with pride,” Read told Sky Sports.
“My view is that it was a penalty [for offside at the end], he ruled it correctly from the start. But that isn’t why we lost the game, it was an accumulation of all things throughout.
“We had a lot of endeavour and hard work from the boys, we wanted to put in a great performance but it just didn’t click. I’m really proud of the lads.”
New Zealand won the first test 30-15 two weeks ago before the Lions bounced back with a 24-21 win in Wellington last Saturday.
