Barry Hawkins has beaten world number three Ding Junhui 13-5 to advance to the semi-final at the World Snooker Championship.

Hawkins led 11-5 overnight after winning the final three frames on Tuesday and took a mistake-ridden first frame of the morning session.

A break of 124 saw the 39-year-old win his fifth frame in a row to secure his place in the semi-finals.

“I punished him every time he made a mistake and when someone is doing that against you, it is easy to miss a few,” Hawkins told BBC Sport.

“I managed to keep him under pressure. And there is a lot of pressure on his shoulders too.

“Winning 6-2 last night was huge and I am happy to get over the line. I felt like he gave up at the end.”

Hawkins will play either Ali Carter or Mark Williams, who finish their match this evening.
