Australia thrash England to take 4-0 victory

Australia have beaten England by an innings and 123 runs to take the final Ashes test in Sydney.

England finished on 180 after losing six wickets and adding just 87 runs to their total from day four.

Captain Joe Root sat out the first hour of the day after suffering from gastroenteritis and retired ill on 58 at lunch.

Moeen Ali fell for 13 before three wickets in the space of four overs killed England’s slim chances of batting through the day.

Jonny Bairstow was out lbw for 38, before Stuart Broad and Mason Crane were both caught behind for four and two runs respectively.

The series was over shortly after when Jimmy Anderson fell for two.
