Andy Murray knocked out of Paris Masters by lucky loser Dominik Koepfer

Andy Murray has been knocked out in the first round of the Paris Masters by Germany’s Dominik Koepfer.

The 27-year-old was given just two hours notice that he would be playing after Murray’s original opponent, Jenson Brooksby, withdrew due to injury.

It took a final-set tie-break to separate the pair, with Koepfer eventually prevailing 11-9.

Koepfer opened up a 5-2 lead in the opening set before prevailing 6-4, but Murray came from behind in the second set to level.

And Murray had two match points when he was leading 5-4 in the decider, but Koepfer saved both before forcing a tie break.

Murray had five more chances to seal the match in the tie-break but Koepfer did brilliantly to keep pace with his opponent, before three points in a row saw him finally claim the win.

Earlier in the day, Cameron Norrie sealed his place in the second round by beating Federico Delbonis but Dan Evans was knocked out by Alexander Bublik.
