Andy Murray defeats Alexander Bublik in straight sets

Andy Murray has defeated Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik 6-1 6-4 6-2 in the first round of Wimbledon on Centre Court.

The world number one took just 108 minutes to defeat the Kazakhstani qualifier and will play Germany’s Dustin Brown in the second round.

Murray needed to save two break points in the opening game, but it was plain sailing from there on out. He broke in games four and six and finished the first set with a love game.

Set two was a little more difficult, but Murray still broke serve immediately. The rest of the set went to serve, but Bublik had his chances. Three break points in the final game of the set were wasted.

It was more of the same from Murray in the third set, breaking twice and defending Bublik’s sixth break point of the match midway through the set. Bublik saved a match point at the end, but Murray finished the match at the second attempt.
