Shaun Murphy, John Higgins through at Masters
Shaun Murphy survived a comeback to defeat Ali Carter 6-4 at the Masters.
The 35-year-old won the opening four frames scoring breaks of 119 and 87 but Carter hit back.
Murphy took a 5-4 lead into the tenth set and a 76 break confirmed the 2015 champion’s progression to a quarter-final against Judd Trump.
In the evening session, John Higgins needed to come from behind to beat Anthony McGill 6-4.
Higgins took a 2-0 lead before McGill won four frames in a row.
The four-time world champion took a 5-4 lead though before sealing the victory.
Higgins will meet Ryan Day in the quarter-final.
