Toulouse went 14 points up through tries from Maks van Dyk and David Roumieu before Marland Yarde pulled a try back before halftime.

Julien Marchand came off the bench to add a third Toulouse try but scores from Sam James and Josh Beaumont drew Sale level.

A late Toulouse try earned the points for the French side, who also exit the competition after finishing in fourth.
