Notts through to T20 Blast final after 23-run win over Hampshire

Nottinghamshire Outlaws have progressed to the T20 Blast final after beating Hampshire by 23 runs at Edgbaston.

The win sets up a clash with the Birmingham Bears this evening after they defeated Glamorgan this afternoon.

Notts batted first and 48 off 27 balls from opening batsman Riki Wessels started the innings well. Alex Hales went for 15 off 7 balls before Tom Moores was caught for a duck.

Brendan Taylor (19), Samit Patel (35) and Daniel Christian (24) kept the Notts score ticking over as they set a reachable target of 169.

It was the Notts bowling attack, without England bowler Stuart Broad, who excelled to get Hampshire all out for 146.

Shahid Afridi was caught by Hales off Patel’s bowling with the opening ball of the innings before Calvin Dickinson went for 27.

Captain James Vince steadied the ship with 56 off 32 balls but Tom Alsop was the only other player to score more than 15 runs, hitting a knock of 20 off 17 balls.

Harry Gurney and Steven Mullaney led with the ball in hand with bowling figures of 3-19 and 3-22 respectively.
