The 2022 Champions League final has been relocated to the Stade de France in Paris.

Saint Petersburg was due to host the Champions League final however UEFA decided to make the move as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The game will take place on Saturday May 28 as originally scheduled.

“UEFA wishes to express its thanks and appreciation to French Republic President Emmanuel Macron for his personal support and commitment to have European club football’s most prestigious game moved to France at a time of unparalleled crisis,” UEFA said in a statement.

“Together with the French government, UEFA will fully support multi-stakeholder efforts to ensure the provision of rescue for football players and their families in Ukraine who face dire human suffering, destruction and displacement.”

The competition is currently at the last-16 stage, with all four English clubs still in the tournament.
