England take control of fourth Test against South Africa

James Anderson led England’s bowling attack on the second day of the fourth test as South Africa closed the day 142 runs behind on 220/9.

England were all out for 362 earlier in the day, with Jonny Bairstow moving his total up to 99 before being bowled lbw.

Toby Roland-Jones (4) and Moeen Ali (14) fell in the morning session, followed Stuart Broad for 7.

Anderson finished with bowling figures of 4/33, and took Dean Elgar out for a duck after just three balls. The Lancashireman then claimed three wickets in the space of six runs to as South Africa were reduced to 146/6.

Temba Bavuma top-scored for South Africa with 46 and Hashim Amla knocked for 30 before being caught by Bairstow.

Victory for England would be their first series victory over South Africa since 1998.
